What we research
The energy lab has extensive expertise in sustainable energy sources, EV, energy storage (electric & thermal), energy management systems (measurement and control systems), data capture & big data analyses, sensors, and the design of smart controls to find answers to today's challenges of the energy transition (focus on energy efficiency & savings). By combining research and services with the industry, a clear picture of the needs in the existing market is formed, allowing for a response to be developed.
Our topics

Projecten in de kijker
For cities, it is a challenge to keep the energy bill affordable. Howest helps the city of Kortrijk with this. From test beds at Kortrijk Weide and Transfo Zwevegem, the Energy Lab develops data architecture for smart control of energy systems.
